After the thrill is gone…

April 30th, 2007

Okay, I’m home now. RT 2007 was a BLAST! I had so much fun getting to see everyone! Apparently, I had a little too much fun involving the removal of my pantyhose in the lobby but we’ll save that story for another day. I also had a bit of a chair debate with some rather “sweet” women who seemed to want to muscle us out of our table at the bar. Needless to say… I still had the chair in the end. Other than that… I behaved myself! I also went on a hunt for a birthday cake while there. Let me say downtown Huston on a Saturday morning doesn’t make for the easiest cake finding.

LOL

I’ll have a more extensive update a bit later. I’m whipped.

Countdown to RT…keeps going…

April 19th, 2007

I’m working hard on getting things done on the end of writing before leaving for RT. An email came this morning about how RT has purchased ad spots on local radio stations down in Houston area and how they already have record registration and are expecting a HUGE turn out for the book singing next Sat. I know last year Michelle Pillow and I stayed until after the signing, talking to people. I really felt like someone was going to walk in and yell “last call”. I’m really excited to see the turnout this year.

I’m also excited about next year’s convention. It will be in Pittsburgh. That’s only about three hours drive from me so I’m FOR SURE going to attend that one as well.

Countdown to RT…

April 17th, 2007

And the chaos begins.

Yes, I’ve started with the freak out of making sure everything I need to take is in order. The crazed “dear gods I have to fly”. The insane house cleaning because my mom will be here watching the boys for me and I want it just right for her. If not, she’ll do it herself. Love my mom to death but don’t want to feel like she must pick up my house. Subjecting (grin) her to my children is bad enough treatment for almost a week.

What writing habits do you have or have you heard of others having?

April 12th, 2007

I’ve been doing the daily write 1,000 words before I do anything else for the day thing for one week now and its going great. Not only is it increasing word count daily for me, its prompting me to dig in and get some work done. I’ve read through two completed manuscripts and set forth the motions to get them into my publisher. I’ve also made some great headway on another writing project. I’m happy to report that for the time being, this is helping tremendously!

I’ll be the first to admit that 1k words a day compared to what I used to write daily is barely a sneeze but when you compare it to the not budging at all, its damn fine progress. I’ll take it!

So,what writing habits do you have or have you heard of others having?

Sacred, worshiped…hunted.

Book two from the Sacred Places series.

All Korey O’Caha wants in his immortal life is to keep evil at bay, protect the witches he was destined to teach and to bed as many women as possible. He doesn’t want love but he didn’t plan on Gigi. Her very presence calls all he vowed sacred in life into question. She quickly becomes his reason for existing but can she ever fully accept him and who he is–a seven hundred year old immortal druid sorcerer? Will the secrets she’s hiding be his undoing?

Gigi, the daughter of a great god, could not stand idly by and allow innocent druid children to be slaughtered. She intervened, placing them under her protection. In the end she was imprisoned in a place where time moved differently than here on earth. That was almost seven hundred years ago. Once freed, she ran as far from the old country as she could. Never did she expect to find ties to the land, let alone a man who stirs her blood the way Korey does.

As shadows from the past resurface, bringing news of an uprising, truth and passion ignite, leaving Gigi at the mercy of Korey.

Warning: This book contains hot, explicit sex and violence explained with contemporary, graphic language.

April 8th, 2007

Hi everyone!

Have a Happy Easter!

I’ll be trying to talk the Roth boys down off their sugar highs for days. I’m sure of it. Damn bunny!

I “luv” technology…uh…not

April 6th, 2007

The big website taken down horror of 2007 is (I hope) over with. After 3 days of working on it, the forums, the blogs, my homepages, the raven homepages….all of it are up and running again. There is one slight problem still and that is with my mandymroth.com domain name. I’m moving it from its old host and it will take up to 72 hours to switch over. Once there, it will land you on my intro splash page to enter my sight.

I’d like to take another moment to say how very much I hate technology!

So, what are everyone’s plans for the weekend? Big Easter plans? Hanging out?

Philosophy on Writing

April 4th, 2007

What is yours? Do you have one? Have you heard of another author’s you’d like to share? I think it’s Nora Roberts who says write every day regardless. She’s a fountain of wisdom so if you all know of anymore of her fabulous quotes on writing, please share. I heard it mentioned somewhere that Lisa Kleypas sits down and writes a thousand words before she does anything else for the day. After hearing these, it struck me that I was letting my muse (I use the term even though I think it’s used a bit loosely) control me when I should be controlling it. Somewhere along the line, I stopped viewing writing as a creative outlet/my career and started viewing it as something else. I’d love to tell you what but I’m not entirely sure. All I do know is that my productivity plummeted and self-doubt took hold of me.

Baaaaaaaaaaa.

Enough of that BS.

I didn’t start out in this biz as wishy-washy and a slave to my muse. I’ll be dammed if I continue on that path. So, I’m all ears. Let’s hear those philosophies on writing…those words of wisdom.
