It’s Official!
I’m all moved into my office now. It was only 3.5 years in the making with getting me down here. It was getting to the point that I was going to either hollow out my formal living room’s sofa for book storage or pester my husband to get the extra bedroom in the lower level (the one he’d claimed for himself when me moved in… you know… a place where he could do all his computer stuff, hang out… chick free zone.. oh, and the place he used to try to pile things a mile high just because he knew I wouldn’t go in there) cleaned out. After dejunking the room and hauling almost everything he had in there to the dump, we tore the carpet out and had new laid, we also painted the walls and purchased some additional book cases for me for down there. Ahh… I’m finally all moved in and I love it! Its not much but I’m DAMN happy to have my own space.
Here is my desk area (that shut door is a half bath that was NEVER used until I moved down here… then all of the sudden… all of the Roth boys are running in to use it. OY) Yes, that’s a light up skull on my desk. Thanks Debbie for it!
This is a picture of the wall to the right of my desk area. It houses some of my ref book collection. They’re shelved according to genre. Those two wooden TV trays you see are used when I have a really big project going on and need more surface space to set ref books on. I move them up and put them next to me so I can lean over and read from the ref book while I work. They then fold down and move away to give me more space.

This one shows the back wall. This houses more ref books and also some of my files. The roll top desk makes a nice area to put all my office supply things that would normally clutter up my main desk area. Plus, it holds the fan. With all these books surrounding me, it can get pretty damn hot in here without something moving the air around, regardless if the central air is on or not. Also, see the skull pirate thing mounted to the wall. Big thanks to Dobby for snagging that for me!!!! Before anyone asks, yes.. that is a stuffed witch doll with a raven on her lap to the right, sitting on the edge of that shelf. Isn’t she cute!!!!
Finally, this is the area that is to the left of my desk. Its sandwiched between that half bath and the closest (which plays home to my filing cabinets and promo materials). This cut out space kind of odd shaped, being about four and half feet wide and about for feet deep. I thought about having my husband custom build some shelves there for me, nice deep ones. He still might but in the meantime, I decided to make it a reading corner. Somewhere just for me when I want to have some quiet time and catch up on my TBR pile.
That’s it… I was just excited and wanted to share!

Congrats!! It looks like a great work space!!

:dnc: Yep… my hubby lost his spot. He has been banned from the room for fear he’ll clutter it up.
:DD The bitchcave! I love it! I need a sign on my door. A BEWARE of BITCH one or something. Perfect!
It looks great. My reference section pales by comparison.
Ain’t it great having your own place!! Now get a DO NOT Disturb Door hanger. One that says, Are you Bleeding? Is the house on Fire? :stwrs: I your answer is no, GO AWAY or I’ll be the one drawing BLOOD.

Amazing! I’m soooo jealous!
Although I don’t write, just read and own thousands of books, your office looks wonderful and hopefully will lead to more of your books which I enjoy lots. Thanks for sharing the pics!
Great looking space. We all need our own room.
Ohhhhh, I’m jealous. ‘Tis gorgeous! :ohpretty:
I want to steal that tub chair!!!
:joe: Absulately beautiful Mandy! Congratulation on the new space and office. Now give a little bit of love to that man of yours. Wink!

congratulations Mandy, every woman deserves her own space.
Um, can I borrow that book, third shelf, three over? thanks….
:ohpretty:
Wow! I only read not write but I love the work area. If only my bookshelf looked as neat….lol. :read:
OMG! Mandy I LOVE the bookshelves!!! Wow!! That would be my haven as well. Is there a lock on the door in? Of course your kid’s don’t likely bother you – right?
I’m thrilled for you. But I still can’t believe you can be in the middle of 5 books at one time. How in the world do you keep all these characters and stories straight. At least with your kids – they don’t change their names all the time.
Go Mandy Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:cheer:
I love it!!! It’s so inspiring to see other writers’ offices. I want to run home & organize now…sigh!
Nice ….so we should be expecting more books from you soon right~~hee hee
What a fantastic space! I could get lost in those books for days. :joe:
