Marketing with Mandy~ Virgin Publishing Spotlight

Sometimes, it really is the little things. As a new author, anxious to get a variety of writing credits under my belt, I submitted a story to Virgin Books’ Wicked Words anthology collection (Sex in the Office, 2005). Little did I know one 6000 word short story/writing credit would lead to a much bigger offer to continue writing for the UK publisher under a new line. Now, four Virgin contracts later, I’m proud to say I’m part of the evolving imprint that is Cheek.

The imprint, started in 2004, is constantly evolving with today’s readers. The most recent changes involve hot new covers and a shift in the stories’ focus—moving away from hard erotica and more into erotic romance where I, as an author, am free to take readers on a journey of love in all its forms.

My first two titles, Fierce Competition and Opposites Attract, were originally released in trade paperback and are about to see their second printing. They arrive in mass market Summer 2007. With my third Cheek book, Bit by the Bug (Feb 2007), I’ll be starting a new series within the line. One which my Cheek editor, Adam Nevill, calls, “Very much what I see as representing all of the Cheek values and facets—youthful, funny, contemporary, hip, very passionate and intensely romantic too.”

In March 2007, 90% of Virgin Books was acquired by Random House, giving RH full use of the Virgin brand name

RH will also be overseeing the new Virgin Books USA line. Ken Siman is heading up Virgin’s US division. The second in the Matthews Sisters series, Along for the Ride, is due for release October 2007 as part of the new Virgin Books USA launch under Random House.
