CallingTree Witch-ness
Anyone ever see the movie Practical Magic? The bit about the one sister having calling tree envy because she’s never called or asked to do anything with her children’s school/classroom? I’ve totally had that same envy for years now.
I always offer, I’m rarely, if ever, taken up on it. Finally, last month, I get a call asking if I’d help with an invention convention they’re having (elementary school thing). I’m beside myself with joy. Not only have I wanted to help for years, I love science. I put it in my calendar, made a huge deal about it with the son who is having it in his grade, the works. Yesterday, I wake up and things with my stomach are “oh, so not right”. I thought it would get better, that it would improve overnight.
I was wrong.
Now, I’m sitting here knowing I can’t really show up there with a stomach bug. I understand I have to call up and cancel. Its rather ironic the one time I’m asked to lend a hand, I’m sick and can’t show.
I’m starting to think the Fates would really rather I not be around school functions.
