This is good stuff. Very inforamtive.
Uh, that’s informative – sorry, sometimes my fingers type too fast!
LOL. Thanks Margay. When I was doing the demo, I had to think about spelling my own damn name right during the website addy part. That’s sad.
You rock girl!
I am going to try this as soon as I finish my edits!!!

You are the best!!!
I know, I’m late joining in, but I’m bookmarking this because I’m in a deadline crunch, and if I start playing with that, I’ll never finish this book.
I’ll be playing in Sept though…LOL

[...] anyone can do. The FREE program I used on the video is PAINT.NET. Also, be sure to check out the banner making contest I’m having! Its a great way to get some free [...]
Very cool. I’ll have to download paint.net and try this.
I clicked here to find a contest for banners, but I don’t see anything but this post! However, I did create my very first banner using a lot of your instruction. I have a Mac and don’t have photoshop and couldn’t download Paint.net, so I found something free for Macs called Seashore. Which ain’t bad for free. The only problem I’ve had is being unable to change the font or its color when you want to add text…bit of a bummer, but how much can I complain? Let me know where to enter my banner in your little contest…I’d love to see others’ first efforts! I feel empowered!!!!!! Thanks, Mandy!

I’ll paste the info her on it as well
I want to thank everyone for stopping by my blog to hang out with me during the workshop. I’d also like to extend an invitation to 5 lucky winners. If you build a banner ad following the specs layed out in my vid, put the link in the comments section here. I’ll select five winners and feature their banners on my web and the raven website for a month!
Hi Kris (love the name, its my brother’s too… yeah, my mom spelled his with a K)
Seashore is a fantastic open source program. You really can’t beat it for free. It lets you build in layers and do everything you’d need to do to make a banner. Let me know how you end up liking it.
Oh, sorry! I got so excited to make my own banner…I never watched the whole video! Duh.
As for Seashore, it isn’t bad for free. The only problem I’ve had is the text tool, but I think I found a workaround. I’ll try it out tomorrow when I have time on my hands. I just spend the better part of my evening watching the darn Olympics! Sucks me in every time with their medal winning and such!
Excellent post, Mandy
I’m using Pixelmator on a Macbook and I found that resizing the image is called transform and scale. (Yes, I didn’t read the PDF manual, bad me, lol) Thanks for making me look for it, lol
I have a banner – but it’s from a cover I can’t reveal yet

Can’t I just have you do it so I don’t have to open Paintshop or Photoshop? Those programs HATE ME!
I love to play with PSP and make banners.
I’ll have to try your method. Thanks!
