The Magnificent Eight Blog Tour

T M 8

Is coming to take you away… Sorry, couldn’t resist myself.

The name of the game is the peppermint twist… okay, really, I’ll stop now and get on with the regularly scheduled programming.

All this week, I’m blog touring with some pretty fan-f-ing-tastic authors! We’re asking each others questions and want all of you to play along. We ask a question on our blog. You answer it in our comments section and you’re entered to win a prize! At the end of the week, I’ll select a winner from those of you who have commented! Don’t forget to visit each of the other authors’ blogs (click their name and it will take you straight there) to answer their question as well for even more chances to win!

My question:

If you had to enter a competition for the "Most Uselessly Unique Talent," what would your talent be?

mandy

My answer:  I can mimic the voices of the cast of The Wizard of Oz movie from the scene where you meet Glenda the Good Witch– Come Out, Come Out song right up Dorothy meeting the scarecrow. I’ve never been able to perfect the scarecrows voice. Clearly, I had too much time on my hands as a child and missed my calling as the front man for an all munchkin rock band.

9780373605279_TS_SMP.indd

Megan Hart: My most uselessly unique talent is:  After drinking lemonade, I can drop spit in a runner from my mouth and suck it back up. Gross AND useless!

A Mermaid's Kiss

Joey W. Hill – I can screw up almost any computer-related gadget I touch in such a way that it will stump computer geniuses. My husband (who is a computer genius), assures me of this constantly. Usually as he’s rebooting for the tenth time and muttering vile curses beneath his breath.

anya

Anya Bast: I can make up songs about anything, I mean anything…and I quite frequently do, much to my husband’s dismay. I use the melodies to well known songs like the theme from The Empire Strikes Back, for example, or Rigoletto, but I make up my own words. Heh.

Patrice Patrice Michelle: I can fold and roll my tongue all kinds of funky ways.

UNDERCOVER_72

Lauren Dane: I’m utterly lame, I have no real talents. I can do a great Irish accent. Once Megan and I pretended to be Irish for two days in Las Vegas (much to Anya’s annoyance I’m sure). But it’s not unique!

Riding Temptation J

Jaci Burton: I have a completely unique memory for useless old Hollywood trivia like where Bing Crosby is buried or what John Wayne’s real name is. Though it can be helpful in games like Trivial Pursuit or when my husband does the crossword puzzle.

  the missing Shiloh Walker:

(Its a super secret LOL)

~ * * * * *~

My prize– winner to be picked on Friday from those who have commented on this post this week– is a $20.00 Gift Certificate for Amazon.com (If I pick you and you don’t get back to me within 14 days, I’m selecting someone else)

You know that fool proof experiment they do in high school chemistry? Where you add iodine to starch and get a bright purple? I can mix those reagents and NOT get purple. Totally flumoxed my prof. He made me do it over and over. Then he took the same reagents and added them together and (poof) purple.

I can pick things up with my toes. It does not matter if it is clothing, pens, etc…if it is on the floor I can pick it up with my toes so I do not have to bend down. :D

Okay, um:

I can separate my two middle fingers and keep my two outside finger together. I don’t know if that makes any sense but that is the only thing I can think of – very useless but makes for great entertainment when a person is board at a family get together. ;)

Thanks for the contest

Good morning Mandy,

Ok, I’m so not talented. I had to call the hubby & ask b/c the only thing I could think of was I can stack things. The hubby agreed his words “you can stack things higher than any person I know”. My response, “you are in TROUBLE”. It’s gotten bad now that I have TBR stack also to go with all those paper stacks.

Heather, Mandy’s hubby, & Michelle, my hubby can join you all in that circus. Drives me nuts!!!

Have a great day,
Susan

Can it be a negative talent? as in… I cannot wink?

’cause I have very few talents and I think they are all useful, you know?

Or… Oh, I know! I know! I can reach really high notes when singing–not sustain them long, mind, but ear splitting high notes all the same. Does that work?

Best luck with the release!

I too can do the flaring of the nostrils and picking stuff up w/ my toes but I think my unique talent is I have freakish strength in my legs! lol I don’t do weights or anything to make them stronger but whenever my sis and I would fight as kids I’d always wrap my legs around her and she was useless after that. She couldn’t move or counter attack until I let her go. hehehe

I can do the tongue curl thingy.
I can do the bend the fingers at the first knuckle without bending the others thingy.
I can seperate my fingers keeping the others together thingy.
I can flare my nostrils thingy.
I can whistle using my fingers louder than any guy I’ve ever known.
I can do the computer crash thingy, once zapped my laptop with static electricity and shut the whole thing down, lost about 50 pages of writing too.
I can wiggle my ears, much to the childrens delight.
My knees crack every time I bend them.
And I’m leaving now because I’ve just worked out I’m a freak.
Where’d they say they were starting that circus?

Okay, so I can think of two things that are completely uselss — 1) I can fold my fingers over one another, on top of the index finger place the middle finger, on top of the middle finger place the ring finger, and on top of the ring finger place the pinky. I can do it with both hands and used to always freak out my mother who thought I would have horrible arthritis by this time.
2) I can look at an object and as I draw it closer and closer to my face, instead of losing focus or getting blurry, my eyes with just shoot off to the sides — the opposite of crossing them.
See, totally useless!

Nov 4, 2008 at 12:05 am

Ok (3) weird ones…well (1) that I just LOVE to use.
1) I can pop my hip in an out. Everyone FREAKS because you can see and hear it.
2) Jingles from the past are memorized. Why? I have NO IDEA?

Ex: Big Mac..Filet o fish 1/4 pounder french fries icy coke thick shake sundaes and apples pies..U deserve a break today….at Mc’Donalds.

It sadly doesn’t end there…The Brady Bunch theme, The facts of life theme…I never tried…really! They’re just stuck!

3) I can bluff better than a lawyer!

I am double jointed in my fingers and elbows as well. So I can bend just the end of my fingers and hold my hands out palm down and rotate just my arm to show either the inside of my elbow or the outside of it.
My very special and totally useless talent. I can always find clothes in every size but the one I wear.

I really don’t have any talents…ueseless or otherwise. According to my husband…I can roll my eyes better than anyone he knows and I do it without even realizing it.

You guys have some very interesting talents, I must say.

Erm – unique and useless talent? My hair hair has a mind of it’s own and/but hold shape incredibly well? Or… I can make a mess of anything in about 10 seconds? I can do a standing back bend? Yeah – I think that one. I mean – what’s the point? Nothing.
That and/or I can bend my right thumb behind the knuckle of my pointer finger. *Behind.* Used to be able to do it with both hands.

Keep going with that arm while take the right arm and pointing to the ceiling, straight out to the side, and then to the floor…..keep those going and start cracking your jaw. What? I can cut a deck of cards one handed in mid-air without any extra support. The top half of the deck ends up on the bottom. Since I’m only 5 foot 2 inchs tall and I have very small hands, so that was a major accomplishment.
