HELP: Slow Cooker Recipes: Super Fast and Easy?

Posted by Mandy M. Roth on Oct 26, 2012 in Day in the Life |

I’m a big fan of using my slow cookers this time of year. Problem is, most of the recipes I have require many ingredients and prep time just to slow cook all day. I’m looking for something easy and fast with very few things I need to do besides throw it all in the cooker and walk away. I will say, my youngest is allergic to dairy so I can’t make cheese/milk like things. Also, husband hates mushrooms. I think that is it. I’m up for any help anyone can offer. Thank you!

I love this recipe for the slow cooker. It’s called “make-it-mine chili” and you pick your combination of ingredients.

1 and 1/2 pounds of meat – choose beef chuck top place steak, pork shoulder (cut into 3/4 inch cubes), beef stew meat, ground beef or ground pork

3 cups of chopped vegetables – choose assorted onion, peas, broccoli, celery, carrots, potatoes, corn, tomatoes, zucchini or sweet peppers

4 cloves of garlic, minced

2 cans of beans – choose black, pinto, garbanzo, white kidney or red kidney (15 ounce)

2 cans of diced tomatoes (15 ounce)

1 can tomato sauce (15 ounce)

1 cup liquid – choose beer, water, beef broth, apple juice or chicken broth

2 tablespoons of chili powder

1 teaspoon of dried herb choose thyme, oregano, italian seasoning or basil

1/2 teaspoon of ground black pepper or crushed red pepper

put in crock pot 6-8 hours!
