RWA and Digital Press

Posted by Mandy M. Roth on Jun 15, 2009 in Hell If I Know What It Should Be Labeled

Deidre Knight has a great blog post going about a call for change with RWA when dealing with e-pubs/small press. If you get a second, stop past and read it.

Special thanks to Angie for bringing the post to my attention.

excuse me, SHE’S AUTISTIC: Lunchtime

Posted by Mandy M. Roth on Apr 6, 2009 in Hell If I Know What It Should Be Labeled

Video description, copied from site:
“excuse me, SHE’S AUTISTIC” is a film project which aims to educate the viewer on the daily trials of a single Mom raising an autistic daughter. Autism is a disorder that can affect the way a child behaves, thinks, communicates, and interacts with others. Kids with autism are affected in different ways. Some have only mild symptoms and grow up to live independently, while others have more severe symptoms and need supported living and working environments throughout their lives. Autism affects up to one in every 175 school-age children, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Approximately 300,000 school-aged kids have been diagnosed with the disorder. It’s more common in boys than girls, and is usually diagnosed when a child is between 15 and 36 months old, although signs of the disorder can show up earlier. Parents of a child with autism are often desperate to get help. Some parents of kids with severe autism may find that a child’s needs overwhelm the family’s ability to live peacefully.”

I just wanted to share this with you all. She’s precious.

Hugh Jackman is a God!

Posted by Mandy M. Roth on Feb 27, 2009 in Hell If I Know What It Should Be Labeled

This was brilliant! I loved it! This just proves why I think Hugh Jackman is the most talented actor in Hollywood today (oh and yes, the sexiest–beside the point). He’s in a league of actors who don’t seem to exist much anymore–the ones who sing, dance, act, the works. The triple threats. I hope his fame and that of the musical movies like Mama Mia will usher in a new age of fantastic films. I love musicals!

I think Anne did an awesome job as well! That girl has talent!

I can’t stress again how much I loved this. It makes me miss actors like Danny Kaye, Audrey Hepburn, Frank Sinatra, Fred & Ginger, Judy Garland (who is so full of awesome goodness that she gets two links)

In total lust with a photo!

Posted by Mandy M. Roth on Feb 14, 2009 in Hell If I Know What It Should Be Labeled

While doing the blog round, I stumbled upon a site I’d not visited before. Disenchanted Photography has some fantastic shots by Matt Allan. Its all dark/goth (for lack of a better word) and its all stunning! I’m in total lust with Such Is Love. I did some searching on his online shop to find a way to buy a low res, jpeg that could be emailed to me to use as inspiration while I write but I’m not seeing that option. *insert total and complete hissy fit here*

I’ll shut up and go back to writing now. I just wanted to take a moment to spread the beauty.
